From what I've read, the main problem with selfie-sticks is the amount if space it takes up and how high you have to put it; which is quite ironic because selfie-sticks were created for this purpose. They were created in order for those of us with shorter arms than wanted, to be able to take a larger photo, because the lens has more of an area to capture. The problem with this is the space it takes up. It can cause lots of people problems such as: the discomfort of needing to walk all around them, people pushing others in order to get into the photo, (when in a museum/cramper space) it can also hit things and knock things around.

Our generation has suddenly become revolved around selfies, mainly because that's house many of our relationships are made now. We all make friends through these various social media sites, and our "selfies" and profile pictures are the first things people see-- so of course we'd want to look good. It interests me though, why do we want to look good? Is it to interest unknown strangers in order to be our friend? To look attractive to others, in order to get a "significant other?" Everyone has different reasons, and those are the reasons that interest me the most.

Our "selfie game" has evolved because of the selfie stick and banning it seems like a very drastic measure, but I agree that it really is a safety hazard in crowded spaces such as museums, for example.
So yes, I agree. Selfie sticks should be banned. Not from all public places though, just in places that are overly crowded to the point where it would be dangerous holding any kind of stick around.

When I think of the words "artificial intelligence," I think of robots and talking computers, it's true. I guess this is the main reason why I was so shocked when I read that calculators are considered artificial intelligence, as well. I mean, thinking about it now, I realize that calculators are, in fact, artificial intelligence; it is able to think and do things by itself. We don't need to tell it that nine times nine equals eighty-one because it knows that nine times nine equals eighty-one. It is it's job to know these math equations.

As digital communicators, I think that we will all change with the electronics. We will be affected, whether it be in a good way or in a bad way, that's the fact. Although this is true, I am 95% sure that people will not realize the change and what is happening until it is "too late." We will all be swallowed up and be forced to ride the waves of the future hand-in-hand with all of the new advancements in the world of AI.

AI brings up many images in my mind, but the biggest one at the moment are talking robots who try to take over the world. I think the main reason people are always thinking of robots instead of calculators because robots are so much cooler in our minds, at least to most people that's how it is. A great example of this is the Avengers. The new movie that came out this year, Avengers: Age of Ultron, encompasses my thinking completely. The movie is about a robot who believes he has to eradicate the human race in order to save Earth. Saying this brings me to realize that it may be true. Unfortunately, we are slowly becoming a parasite to our Earth. Whether AI has a lot to do with it or not, these are the facts.

*Unfortunately, the video-commercial that I should be attempting to view isn't showing up on the screen.*

I personally think that commercials aren't that bad. they're there for our viewing so that products may be sold. Commercials are a very smart way to advertise, seeing as even if we put the volume down, we will still see it. Especially if we are really, really into the show that we are watching. It's quite interesting that people feel so negatively about commercials. It shouldn't be that big of a deal, considering it is just a few minutes of our time in our lives, and yet we are all irritated so easily. I think it also has to do with our patience. The world wants faster internet, faster computers, faster everything. The big question here is: why? I mean, what's the point of that? We have all the time in the world to work on things and yet we don't want to wait two minutes for a simple video to load? I think that in our generation, patience is very hard to find. We are all so caught up in the many different things that we do and yet we still don't have time for people and advertisements.

Many advertisements these days have catchy phrases or inside jokes known specifically to a target group audience. For example people who are trying to sell things to the younger generation tend to put little inside jokes relating to vines or recent celebrities that everyone likes to trash. Products pertaining to older generations however, have inside jokes that have to do with things in the past. Many products aren't targeted towards the older generations, mainly because they know how to live without it. They know that they don't need it to survive. The younger generations, though, don't know this. They don't feel this way, and that is why commercials are so offensive to older generations. Young people these days are used to insults and many inappropriate things that are said now a days. They are probably seen as vulgar and not right to those who aren't accustomed to how this generation thinks and acts. Sometimes even I feel a tad bit awkward being there while everyone does things that I don't do. I don't mind though. If that's what they want to do, who am I to stop them?

Children misbehave. This is a fact. Many children are obedient sometimes, and many children are not. This is also a fact. When wrong things are done, consequences are made; one more fact amongst many.

When children misbehave, many parents punish them, as they should. Stating this does not mean I support terrible, cruel punishments. It simply means I understand why people do them. Children must learn right from wrong, which is why punishments are made in the first place. It's to teach them what they are allowed to do (what is "right") and what they aren't allowed to do (what is "wrong"). This being said, I would like to admit right now that I do not support cruel punishments for children, nor do I think it is okay for children's punishments to be posted online for everyone to see.

First of all, I don't think it's good that one would have to punish their child. These things shouldn't be taken lightly. Punishments are punishments, no matter the setting. Whether it be at school or at home, punishments are something that no one should want. I mean, punishments are given to someone when they have done something bad. Why would someone want the world to know that their child did a bad thing? It doesn't make sense to me. Wouldn't parent want people to know the good things their child has done? Their many achievments?

The thing with punishments too is, they aren't a joke, either. Sure, it may be funny from outside looking in, but when you are the one receiving the punishment, it isn't as funny I can assure you that. For example, I always see different posts talking about how someone punished their kid, and they had to do something "funny" and "bad" after. Most of these posts include photos of what they had to do. At first I might laugh at the absurdity of it, but most times I feel sorry for the child. Their face has now been put up on the internet for many people to see, and the embarassment they feel at that moment in time must be huge. Especially when that post gets many likes, and when the photo of his/her face gets used over and over and over again, each time having a different note attached to it, pushing his name down into the dirt even further.

While many people think this may be a great idea, I think the exact opposite. I think it is a terribly mean one that I would never use on my child, should I decide to have one. I think it is cruel to put your child through that much hurt. You are basically setting them up for bullying and teasing; and who would ever want that? We are all trying so hard to get rid of that stuff. Why set someone up to get knocked down and bullied when that's one of the main things we have been trying to prevent?

The whole thing makes no sense whatsoever to me.
Not at all.

As part of "the next batch of up and comers," I feel that it really is a becoming a growing concern. I make fun of my friends and tease them about things, I mean that's what we do, but it never got to the point where we insulted each other in order to make others laugh. We never made each other a joke in order to be seen as "funny" or "cool" by others. I don't usually look at things like "mean tweets," and neither do I go around searching up the next funniest vines. I'm not really up-to-date on things like that because of this. At the same time though, I tend to get the gists being made when others speak about it. I guess you could say wasn't completely out of the loop, but at the same time I wasn't completely into it as well.

I don't think these tweets will go away on their own. Lately, everything on twitter is the next biggest thing. Including "twitter beef," people are constantly on this social media website, reading about the next coolest thing to watch, or the next greatest song to be listening to. Everyone's opinions affect others, and reading people tweet at each other, argue and fight has become one of the most amusing things one could ever do on the internet. I think it's terrible, what we have become. It's something that's beyond anyone's control and we aren't necessarily able to stop it all at once, either.

Twittet is a space where people are able to "tweet" about their lives, and talk about whatever they want to. It's a space where people are able to freely express themselves and speak their mind. This is why Twitter is so essential for certain people. I feel like putting laws on the site will mess everything up. Also having it checked and governed may be an issue as well, becaude it forces us to actually think about what we're about to say. It defeats the main reason why people use twitter in the first place. It would create a lot of discomfort for many people, because we would basically be taking away their freedom of speech.

Though I say this, at the same time I don't think we should do nothing about it either. I mean, people get hated on always, no matter what. I don't think that that will ever change. What I'm thinking about though, is how we can change the open hate for others that is floating around everywhere nowadays. When did it become okay for people to make fun of others and become widely-known, while embarassing and humiliating their friends? I don't think it should be okay for this to happen as often as it does, but at the same time I'm not too sure myself, how to fix and change it. I'm at my wits end.

Blog Post #1

As I was watching the video, the whole argument seemed like a joke to me. Both parties were too stubborn to back down and "be the bigger person." This caused both sides to create pattern which is similar to tag. The photographer would follow Iggy and rant their head off, and Iggy would "retreat" while giving her retort, then she would go to the photographer and do the same thing. It was quite comical to watch, but while I was listening I felt like I understood why each person was so upset. I understood where both sides were coming from, which is why it's so hard for me to actually choose a side right now.

If i were to have to actually choose a side in this situation, it would be the photographer. It's his job to follow celebrities around and take photos of them. Everyone wants to know what a celebrity buys, or where they shop, or what they eat. It's the photographer/paparazzi's job to give that to the people. They're supposed to do that. According to the speech bubbles on the side of the video, the photographer wasn't actually following them all day, like she had stated. This causes me to believe that she misunderstood the situation and thus, over-reacted. Iggy makes sense when she says that she deserves privacy and such, but the thing with being a celebrity is that your name and face are known. You no longer have any privacy, in essence.

Then again, she does have some privacy, at least, in her home, or other places that she owns. The only time someone should be allowed to take photos of her there, is if she personally invites them in, or if she is seen outside on a balcony or something similar to that. Once again, I believe that privacy no longer seems like a big thing she will have in her life, due to her being famous and so widely-known.

The paparazzi stepped out of line, but when it comes down to it, how else does Iggy expect to be known? How else does she expect to go through her life being a celebrity, without being followed by photographers and paparazzi? Through them, we are able to follow different celebrities' lives, and to get to know them without actually knowing them.

Honestly, both of them are at fault. Iggy should never have gotten physical or spit on him. She had no right. This all started with a misunderstanding, which caused everything to get blown out of proportion. No one in this situation was necessarily right, but no one was wrong either. Both had good points and great arguments, but since the whole thing was based off of a misunderstanding and both sides got heated too quickly over nothing, the whole thing turnd into one big silly mess.

Another example of a celebrity and paparazzi feud would be between Kanye West and, of course, the paparazzi. Through the video, you constantly hear one of the paparazzi saying that Kanye punched the paparazzo in the stomach and basically, assaulted him.

There are many instances where celebrities injure or treat the paparazzi which is following them wrongly, which is pretty interesting because to be a celebrity you must be known. That's how they make their money and create an occupation for themselves. For them to be known, though, one must rely on the paparazzi and photographers to put their name out their and write an article about them. That's how we, the audience and consumers, find out about their lives. That's how we follow them. The whole thing is controversial and interesting to think about.
